As I was reading some of the stuff on Mark Buehrle's perfect game today, I was reminded of a story that I read as a kid on a Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, Harvey Haddix, who pitched a perfect game into the 13th inning - and lost. That story gave me chills when I first read it when I was 8 or so, and a little bit of digging came up with this gem in the SI.com archives:
Phenomenal story and well worth a read.
