Who's the most clutch player of all time (NBA edition)?
I like Reggie Miller, and it's impossible to not think about Jordan. However, my vote goes to Robert 'Big Shot Bob' Horry.
Honestly, when I think of clutch, I think of someone who significantly elevates their game in the crunch. Miller and Jordan were outright superstars in the first, second, and third quarters. In fact they were fantastic players during the regular season. Horry, on the other hand, shot about 35% (total guess) from downtown during "normal" game situations, but like 80% in the last 2 minutes of game sevens.
How many players have a countdown of clutch plays, let alone a Top 10 playoff edition?
Reggie Miller in 9 seconds is the most memorable highlight for me.
ReplyDeleteBig Shot Bob is the most clutch role player, maybe. But he's like the ultimate 2nd option with the clock running down, sorta like Steve Kerr with the Bulls/Spurs, or Paxson with the old Bulls. They'll hit that shot once your superstar (Jordan, Kobe) gets the ball first and the defense adopts the Anyone-But-Jordan strategy. The clutch performer still has to be the superstar
