As previously noted on this blog by Stanimal, probably the greatest coup in recorded history involves Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic wooing former tennis star and SI Swimsuit Issue model Maria Sharapova. While "The Machine" (Vujacic) may be, in the words of Stanimal, "unattractive, a dick, and a greasy long-haired European," he was able to make up for these minor character flaws and successfully proposed to Sharapova. My suspicion is that he got some advice in improving romantic relationships from teammate Kobe Bryant, since reports indicate that the ring he gave Sharapova required a small forklift to set.
