Happy First Birthday, BSS Report!!!

A year ago, three college friends, having swapped links and stories with each other over email for several months since graduation, decided to launch a new project:

Re: BLOG!
Date: 3/17/2009

since apparently i have a blogspot.com account, i made one! it's empty right now, sadface, but you can go look at it here: thebssreport.blogspot.com

BSS for brett stan steve! my aren't I clever. anyway, you guys need to register, i think I can invite you guys to be co-authors, email forthcoming hopefully.
One year and 414 posts later (more than a post a day, hooray!!!), the BSS Report is still going strong thanks to support from our faithful readers, and of course, my co-bloggers that have made this project worthwhile. Thank you very much for your support!!

While we're doing birthday shots for the success of this project, I wanted to do a SportsCenter top 10 moments of the BSS Report's first year in existence:

10. Founding - First post of the BSS Report!! Followed by the first posts of each of the co-bloggers here and here.

9. All-Superhero Football Team - I love the exercise of "Pick your best football team from this field of imaginary characters." Maybe this is why I suck at law school.

8. Talkin' in Sonar - Because, seriously, who doesn't enjoy a fight song that not only uses a foreign language, but a foreign language in the sense that humans don't speak it?

7. The Big 5-0 - Not only did it hit 50 posts for the month of September, marking it the first and only month we've crammed 50+ posts in a month, but it even sums up our life philosophy.

6. Captain Morgan - Because nothing screams class like doing this to a Captain Morgan bottle.

5. Redemption - Probably my second favorite post of the year, because it came on the heels of a widely panned Valentine's Day attempt at humor and managed to limit the damage to my reputation as someone who trolls for chick flick trailers online. (Although the alleged pedophilia tendencyies from a different post not linked here, which I assure any law enforcement agents who may be reading this are completely tongue-in-cheek and not true at all, was not followed by a subsequent awesome post).

4. Pick 'em - Our several-month long exercise in interaction with our readers, demonstrating just how little we know about football, incorporating such shenanigans as Bibler almost running a train through the regular season, Stan picking an undefeated team in Week 15 to lose and getting away with it, and Tanman almost throwing his iPhone across the San Fran Opera House (wtf?) , began right here.

3. TSLSotW - Either you know the acronym or you don't. But I'll let our most faithful reader take this one:
Tanman said...

dear god. as if I were back in freshman year trying to remember every acronym on campus, TSLSotW just made TAS, CASA, and AASA look like kiddie poop

2. Fantasy Football reigns supreme! - Because at the end of the day, whatever differences we have in our sports experiences, whether it's land sports, water sports, or astrophysics, fantasy football brings everyone back together at the end of the day. Nothing screams "I CARE!" quite as much as being so unable to sleep after your first fantasy football draft of the year that you have to write a draft recap and analysis immediately afterward. To Steve's detriment, he claimed that Ray Rice was "an RB3 at best." To his credit, he won the league this season.

1. Same post, same time - And this is why we blog. So that two guys, operating several hundred miles apart from each other, could post the EXACT SAME THING AT THE SAME TIME not just once (here and here), but twice (here and here) in one day, and give two totally different perspectives on the same thing.

Thanks again to all our contributors and readers, and let's make the second year even better than the first!

Cheers,
The Milkshake
