This cute pink thing is the Himiko object, and it looks a bit like a Goomba but in fact it's a gigantic space blob. It's 12.9 billion light years away, and is supposed to have originated when the universe was 800 million years old. I googled "metric expansion of space" and my brain blew up into tiny bits.
